Newcastle DJs, this one is for you: eight live slots, sync off, one night in November
The first Newcastle DJs live heat runs on Wednesday 18 November. Twenty minutes each, cameras on the decks, no sync. Here is how it works and how to get a slot.
By StageOS Editorial ·
Newcastle has always had more DJs than it has stages. Bedroom DJs, open-deck regulars, students, collectives running their own nights: the talent is there, the hard part is getting anyone to see it. So we are putting it on camera.
The heat
On Wednesday 18 November, the Newcastle DJs group on StageOS runs its first live heat:
- Eight slots of twenty minutes, from 19:00.
- Streamed live, with the camera on the mixer and decks so everyone can see what you are doing.
- Sync off. No mashups, one take.
- Judged half by the judges and half by votes.
Full rules, the running order and the prize are on the heat page.
Who it is for
Any DJ based in or around Newcastle, at any level. If you have never played out, this is a stage. If you play every weekend, it is a chance to show it to people outside your usual room. The group is hosted by Newcastle DJ Zac Harris.
How to get a slot
- Get your free EPK on StageOS, with a mix and a photo.
- Join the Newcastle DJs group.
- Book one of the eight slots on the heat page before they go.
The bigger picture
North East DJs are already travelling: L.P. Rhythm, from the region, plays Floyd in Miami at the end of October. The aim of the heats is simple. Find the next names from the city before everyone else does, and give them something real to put on their EPK.
