How they differ
Canva is a general design tool, free to use, with a huge library of electronic press kit templates. You pick one, add your photos, bio and links, and export a PDF or image. Some music services also offer Canva press kit templates; Ditto Music, for example, lists its EPK templates as a Ditto Pro feature.
The catch is that a PDF is a snapshot. Mixes can't play inside it, links break, and every new gig or photo means exporting and sending a new file. A StageOS EPK is a live page at one link: promoters press play on your mix, see your latest gigs, rider, rates and availability, and always get the current version. StageOS also lists your gigs in what's on, lets you apply to festivals open for applications, and members can be added to StageOS playlists.
Choose a Canva template if…
- you want full control over the design of a one-off document;
- a festival or agency has asked for a PDF;
- you already use Canva for your posters and social posts.
Choose StageOS if…
- you want promoters to hear your mixes without downloading anything;
- you don't want to re-send a file every time something changes;
- you want gigs and festival applications for free, and playlist placements during your free trial.
Playlist placements
Members on a free trial or a paid plan with a published EPK and YouTube videos are added to StageOS playlists on YouTube (StageOS TV on YouTube): genre playlists, Featured Artists and event playlists such as ADE. Their EPK can show a "Hear me on StageOS playlists" badge. See the playlists.
