About this venue
Frate is an open-air venue and cultural hangout space in central Newcastle upon Tyne, situated in a hidden courtyard just off High Bridge behind Grey Street. Constructed using recycled shipping containers, the multi-level alfresco hotspot features street food vendors, cocktail bars, live music performances, DJ sets, outdoor cinema screenings, and art and cultural pop-up events. Launched in May 2023 by the creators behind Market Shaker, Pumphreys, and The Dog & Parrot, Frate combines a vibrant festival atmosphere with heated seating areas, street art murals, and regular community activations.
