About
Biography
Zac Harris is a Newcastle tech house DJ and producer who plays the long game. Where most sets go straight for the drop, his start deep on funky, rolling basslines and percussion, with soulful vocals threaded through, then build patiently, so the peak lands harder when it finally comes. Each set is a story with a beginning, middle and end, usually running two to three hours, and he mixes all of it live with no sync. You can hear it in his live session at Black Box Studios in Newcastle, recorded on a V10, CDJ-3000X and RMX-Ignite, which grooves for a long stretch before the first big breakdown and saves its biggest drop for the final third. You can hear it too in The Final Sunset of Summer, an outdoor set that took a rooftop terrace from golden hour into the night. In the studio he makes funky, vocal-led tech house built for that kind of journey. His own tracks have been shortlisted by Riva Starr's Snatch! Records and Patrick Topping's Trick, and he is building a collection of unreleased tracks for his club sets. He won the Big Love Festival emerging talent competition, which earned him a Saturday set on the festival's Main Stage, and he won the Restoration DJ competition at Frate in Newcastle, playing alongside Mark and Tony Hutchinson. He was a MixMaster UK finalist, has headlined Who's Jack in Newcastle, and has played 75+ sets, including summer residencies in Murcia and Ibiza and takeovers on Ibiza Stardust Radio. He is happiest with a long slot: opening, closing or all night.
