About this venue
World Headquarters (also known as WHQ or Worldies) is an independent, Black-owned, multiracial nightclub and live music venue in Newcastle upon Tyne. Established in 1993 by founder Tom Caulker—evolving from the musical legacy of the 1980s Trent House Soul Bar—WHQ is Newcastle's longest-running underground club and operates firmly outside corporate mainstream nightlife. Located in Curtis Mayfield House, the venue spans two floors and hosts an eclectic range of events including soul, funk, house, techno, drum & bass, reggae, and live performances. Renowned for its friendly atmosphere and strict anti-discrimination ethos, WHQ remains an iconic pillar of the North East's underground music scene.
