About this venue
Live Theatre is a renowned new writing theatre based on Newcastle's historic Quayside, set within a complex of five Grade II listed buildings that include converted 19th-century warehouses. Founded in 1973, the venue is one of England's few theatres outside London dedicated exclusively to producing and presenting original, new work, while also hosting stand-up comedy, live music, and creative education programmes. The complex features an intimate 160–170 seat main cabaret-style theatre auditorium, a flexible studio theatre, dedicated writers' and rehearsal rooms, an atmospheric atrium cafe bar, and an adjoining outdoor garden and performance space.
