Details
The Bechet-Spanier Quartet is a classic jazz ensemble featuring cornetist Lewis Taylor, reed player Michael McQuaid, guitarist Félix Hunot, and double bassist Harry Evans. Formed to celebrate the 125th anniversary of cornetist Muggsy Spanier's birth, the group pays homage to the historic 1940 New York recording sessions of the Sidney Bechet-Muggsy Spanier Big Four. Their repertoire revisits early jazz standards performed without a drum kit, capturing the intimate chamber-style swing of classic Hot Club and trad jazz instrumentation.
